How to Add Testimonials to Carrd

Carrd is the fastest way to get a landing page live. Pick a template, swap in your content, publish. For many indie makers and solo founders, the entire site goes up in an afternoon.

The one thing Carrd does not give you is a testimonial component. There is no quote block, no social proof section, no carousel widget in the component panel. If you want customer testimonials on your Carrd site — and you should, because social proof on a landing page directly affects signups — you have to add them yourself.

There are two approaches that actually work: building a testimonial section manually using Carrd's existing components, and embedding a live testimonial carousel using the HTML widget. This guide covers both honestly, including what breaks with each.

Before You Start: The Pro Plan Requirement

The HTML embed approach (Method 2) requires a Carrd Pro plan. The free tier does not support the Embed component. Carrd Pro Lite starts at $9 per year — it is the cheapest paid plan and includes everything needed for embedding.

If you are on the free tier and want the embed method, upgrading is worth it. The testimonials alone will likely recover that $9.

Method 1 — Build Testimonials Manually with Carrd Components

Carrd's component library includes Text, Image, and Container elements. You can combine these to build a functional testimonial section without any external tools.

How to build a basic testimonial layout

  1. In the Carrd editor, click + to add a new component
  2. Select Container — this will hold each testimonial card
  3. Inside the Container, add:
    • A Text component for the testimonial quote (increase font size, add italic styling)
    • A second smaller Text component for the person's name and role
    • An optional Image component for their photo (set to circle crop in image settings)
  4. Style the Container: add a background color, set padding, add a border radius for a card appearance
  5. Select the finished Container and duplicate it (⌘D / Ctrl+D) for additional testimonials
  6. Add all duplicated cards inside a parent Container set to horizontal layout

Layout tips for Carrd

Carrd's layout system is simpler than Webflow or Framer. A few things that make testimonials look better:

  • Use a Columns layout (2 or 3 columns) in the parent Container to place cards side by side
  • Set each card Container to the same minimum height so uneven quote lengths do not create lopsided rows
  • Use Carrd's built-in alignment controls to center text within each card
  • A light gray or very subtle color for the card background separates testimonials visually without competing with your page design

When this works

Manual testimonials are the right choice when:

  • You have 3 to 5 short quotes and they will rarely change
  • The testimonials come from emails, DMs, or private conversations (not public social posts)
  • You are on the Carrd free tier and cannot use the Embed widget
  • You need zero dependencies — no external service, no embed code, no third-party tools

Where this breaks down

No carousel. Carrd does not have a native carousel component. Testimonials display as a static grid or stacked column. Showing more than 6 testimonials means a long scroll or a cramped layout.

Fully manual updates. Every new testimonial means opening the editor, adding new components, matching the styling, and republishing. There is no content layer separate from the page design.

No verification. A text block that says "This saved my business — Alex" is a claim. There is nothing linking it to a real person or a real post. Visitors who are skeptical have no way to check, and skeptical visitors do not convert. If you are thinking about what makes a good testimonial worth displaying in the first place, verifiability is near the top of the list.

Method 2 — Embed a Live Carousel with the HTML Widget

Carrd's Embed component (available on any Pro plan) accepts raw HTML including iframes. This is the method that gives you a real testimonial carousel — scrollable, styled, and linked to the original source. For a broader look at how to use Twitter testimonials on your website across different platforms, the same workflow applies anywhere that accepts an iframe.

How it works with LaunchWall

  1. Paste the URL of an X post that received public replies from your users
  2. LaunchWall fetches all public replies to that post
  3. Select the specific replies you want to appear in your carousel
  4. Publish the wall and copy the generated <iframe> embed code
  5. Paste that code into Carrd's Embed widget

The result is a live carousel on your Carrd site showing real X replies, each with the person's profile photo, username, tweet text, and a direct link to the original post on X.

Step-by-step: adding the embed to Carrd

  1. In the Carrd editor, click + to add a new component
  2. Select Embed from the component list (you will not see this option on the free tier)
  3. In the Embed settings panel, paste your LaunchWall iframe code into the Code field
  4. Set a fixed height if needed — LaunchWall carousels are fixed height by default, but you can adjust this
  5. Set width to 100% so the carousel fills the section
  6. Click outside the Embed settings to close the panel and see it render in the editor

What visitors see

Each card in the carousel shows:

  • The person's real X profile photo
  • Their display name and username
  • The full tweet text
  • A link icon that opens the original post on X

A visitor who doubts a testimonial can click through to X and see the real reply in its original context. That is the difference between social proof and a claim.

Positioning the embed on your Carrd page

Carrd sites are single-page layouts. The placement of your testimonial section matters for conversion:

  • Near the pricing section is the highest-impact position — visitors considering a purchase are most likely to read testimonials when they are deciding
  • Below the hero works well for brand-new visitors who do not yet understand what the product does
  • Near the CTA button is the classic conversion pattern — testimonials immediately before the action you want visitors to take

Carrd lets you drag components to reorder them vertically. Experiment with placement against your signup rate.

Carrd-Specific Issues to Know

The Embed component does not render in the editor preview

When you add an Embed widget in the Carrd editor, you will see a gray placeholder rather than the actual carousel. This is Carrd's standard behavior for embedded code — it does not execute third-party scripts in the editor environment.

To see the real carousel, use Carrd's Share (preview) link or publish to your live domain. The carousel will render correctly on the published site.

Width and height behavior

Carrd Embed components default to a fixed pixel size. For the best result:

  • Set width to a percentage (try 100%) so it scales with the page
  • Set height to match the carousel height (LaunchWall carousels render at a consistent height based on card count)
  • On mobile, Carrd stacks components vertically and the embed will fill the mobile width automatically

Carrd's mobile layout

Carrd automatically adapts your layout for mobile. Embed components respect this — a carousel set to 100% width will fill the mobile screen width without additional configuration. The carousel itself handles horizontal scroll for cards on small screens.

SSL and mixed content

All Carrd published sites use HTTPS. LaunchWall embeds also serve over HTTPS. You will not encounter mixed content warnings.

Which Method Should You Use?

You are on the Carrd free tier: Method 1 only. The Embed widget requires Pro. Build manually with containers and text components. It takes more time but works without a paid plan.

You are on any Carrd Pro plan and your testimonials are X replies: Method 2. It takes about 20 minutes total from first LaunchWall login to live carousel on your Carrd page, and the testimonials are verifiably real.

You are on any Carrd Pro plan and your testimonials are from private conversations: Method 1. LaunchWall works with public X posts — it cannot pull from emails or DMs. Build the testimonial cards manually and use accurate quotes from customer conversations.

You want both: Do both. Use manual text testimonials (Method 1) in one section for private customer quotes, and an embedded carousel (Method 2) in another section for your public X social proof. Carrd pages support as many sections as you need.

Why Verified Testimonials Perform Better on Landing Pages

Carrd is used heavily for pre-launch waitlists, product launches, and direct conversion pages. These are high-stakes contexts — a visitor lands, reads quickly, and decides whether to sign up or leave.

In this context, the authenticity of your testimonials matters. A static text card with a name and quote could have been written by anyone. A real tweet from a real person — with their photo, username, handle, and a link to the original post — is not something you can fake. Visitors with healthy skepticism will appreciate being able to verify. For more on how many testimonials you actually need to make a meaningful impact on a page like this, that question has a more specific answer than you might expect.

For a landing page where the only goal is conversions, the embed approach is not just faster to set up. It is structurally more persuasive. You can also look at wall of love examples to get a sense of how other founders have displayed their social proof effectively.

LaunchWall is built for founders who have real social proof on X and want it on their landing page today. The $1 trial takes 15 minutes to set up — less time than it takes to build a manual testimonial section in Carrd.
